Patterned after the Vogalonga, a non-competitive rowing marathon held in Venice,
Italy for over 30 years with more than 5,000 participants annually,
THE 5TH ANNUAL GREAT MERRITT ISLAND BOAT RACE, will be held on Saturday,
May 22nd, 2010. You're invited to join in a "just for fun" boating event
for all rowing/paddling vessels (kayaks, canoes, row boats, shells, etc.)
Leaving Kiwanis Island on Merritt Island at 8:00am, vessels will proceed
north on Sykes Creek to the Barge Canal and back to Kiwanis Island
(approximately 6.0 nautical miles).
A "Cardboard Regatta" will immediately follow the 'Long Row' boat race.
